heater cables routing- 70 Dart

hello everyone,
I just got my heater core in,
Is there any particular way the cables are routed from the control to the HC or just sort of rout them whichever way it works.

I'll snap some from the back of the heater control in a minute.
 
No kinks ! Nice slow curves and attaching ends correctly is all that matters
 
somewhere I'm screwing this up. when unattached to the HC, smooth operation, when attached they bind up and the controls on the dash are extremely difficult to move. there are only three cables. they are in the coorect position. any ideas?
 
Do the levers on the box move freely without the cables hooked up ?
 
there is some resistance but it's slight.
I took all the cables off and soaked them oil.
hooked them back up, same binding problem on the heat/defrost lever.
the temp lever is working well now.
going to take a hard look at the control in the dash tomorrow.
something isn't right here. this shouldn't take all day to install.
 
I feel for you. I just took my steering column apart 3 times. Finally got it right.
