O.K. Put a 340 and a 727 In my 69 valiant. Motor runs perfect. I go to put the driveshaft In and It wont fit. I ordered the 727 yoke from summit. Still wont fit. And yes the tranny is a 727. and it is new. Question is "Did the 727 have different splines on the output shaft on early models, say, pre 67?. Any help would be awesome! Thanks

How many splines do you count in the slip yoke(s)? Did you buy or build this transmission? Is it possible one (or more) of the splines on the output shaft are damaged, not allowing the slip yoke to slide over?

IIRC the 727 output shaft has 30 splines, and the 904 has 27. The front carrier splines have changed three times over the years, however.

EDIT: I should have also included that the number of splines IN the slip yoke is ONE less then the number of splines on the shaft. So 29 in the yoke for 727, and 26 for 904. Hope this helps! Let us know what you find!

Chris
