I am trying to verify if the numbers on my 727 are matching to my car. So far everything else is matched. Here is what I have on the pad.
PK3681052 4140 5405
Its a 73 Dart Sport 340
Is the vin stamped anywhere on the trans?

4140 is Monday November 27th, 1972, if thats the build date of the trans, , it should precede the production date of the car,,,,if your car has a production date after 4140 then its at least dated correctly for the car,,

this is how the decoding is broken down. The first 2 letters represent the ***. plant (pk or pp) the next is a 3 digit # that is the type of trans. After that is the build date followed by the 4 didgit daily sequence production #.
All trans that were installed from the factory will have the car's VIN (last 8 didgits of the VIN) stamped on the same pad as the serial #.
Now this code should be stamped on the front portion of the case on the pass. side just below the centerline.

Other side of trans should have a machined pad with VIN on it.
