Hi all, I'm looking to buy a rad off of a fellow from area code 440 (which I googled as being from Ohio). We've hit a small snag which I feel may jeopardize the sale, in that he is concerned with shipping the part to me in Canada.

He will be contacting me after his return from the Nats, and after speaking to him, he is probably feeling uneasy with the paperwork etc. that he will have to fill out to clear the border. I have offered to pay him for his time and packaging over and above the price and shipping, but he sounds a little reluctant.

I really need this rad, and have been looking for a nice one for a couple of years. I see that he is also posting on this board.

In a nutshell, I am willing to compensate someone in the US to receive the rad from him, ensure it is packaged well, and fill out the paerwork to get it to me.

I'll know if he is willing sometime next week, but if he decides he'd rather not do it for me, I'd love to have a fallback option.

If anyone could offer me this service, I might be asking your help.

Have him ship it via Fedex or UPS. its not hard to create the customs paperwork, just make sure they value it at $0 or else you are looking at paying duties on it once it crosses the border. If all else fails, have him pack it up and send it to me (i'm in cincinnati, ohio) and I'll ship it to you. I ship stuff over the border quite regularly for my job and i'm very familiar with the process. PM me for further info if necessary.

Thanks for the reply Optix. I know the ins and outs of the process, but it is basically his reluctance that is my concern. What I am hoping is that someone out there in the US could receive the shipment, fill out the paperwork, and redirect it here. I am willing to pay for this, as my chance of finding another correct rad is not that likely.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Probably tons of Canadians in Columbus, Ohio this weekend, going to the Nats., It'd be nice if you knew someone going there.

Tell him to take it to UPS in a box, pay, stamped, shipped!I get parts weekly from the states and sent with no issues at all. It,s a gift $20,it,s that easy.

LOL, yup, you can do it that way too. I really don't understand the sellers take on this, What's he all so worried about?
If any extra costs are incurred, the receiver will have to pay for it, IE, brokerage fees and duty.

Or ship it Greyhound.

Thanks for the replies. I think he said last time they weren't prepared properly, and it was a "hassle". Not begrudging him, he is willing to look into it after the weekend, bt from the tone of his voice, I'm thinking not likely. After re-reading Optik's post, I will PM him and if need be, take him p on his offer.. thanx all.
