going on second try to find one that matches up right - it's a '71 18 spline A833 and I don't know if that is the heart of the issue /if there is typically a prob in this setup that anyone has dealt with? '68 383 in a '68 barracuda that started life as slant 6, 3 spd. What I had in there when I got car was a clutch disc too large for the PP and causing noise along with worn TO and very worn pilot bushing....had to have brass bushing made - apparently input shaft had been ground for a chevy motor at some time. Anyone been down this road? Started out replacing TO, then Z bar and rest of linkage - found clutch issue and worn pilot bushing - now just heck of time getting right clutch package..any tips appreciated.

How much power is the engine making and are you street or strip?

I have found most units out there are good parts. I have used Hays/MP standard & performance clutches without issues. These were the standard type pressure plate parts with 3 fingers.

I have a Centerforce dual friction in my hot rod car now and the pressure plate has fingers all the way around. It is a bit different than the standard set up and it seems to require the over the center spring to be removed. Which I’m not overly thrill in doing because it’s a PIA. But it does work well!

OK thnks for your response - this is a street car with '68 HP motor - could be 340- 350 h.p. range with mild cam and the new 4 bbl carb. 130 tooth flywheel - believe it or not there was a 10"PP with a 10 1/2" clutch disc. that looked like it was not happy at all on there. Bad pilot bushing and some linkage issues with incorrect parts that had been used. Also worn shifter we will replace. Ordered a RAM (3 finger Borg & Beck type) 10.95 PP with correct bolt pattern that has a 10.5 clutch disc. New TO bearing, clutch fork and linkage parts. Had flywheel trued. We'll see if on right track in a few days..
