Howdy guys, Currently running a 360 magnum in my duster with dougs longtube headers air gap intake avs2 carb, and factory stock Mustang GT mufflers (don't ask Lol) through 2.5" true dual exhaust with no X or H pipe.

ill be putting an oregon regrind cam #1169 (220/220 @ .050”, 282/282 adv, .498”/.498” lift(1.6:1 rocker), 112 sep)

in the motor soon and decided that i want to go a more aggressive route with the car in all areas.

The mustang GT mufflers sound good but they're too quiet for my current goal. Now what i do NOT want to do is go from one extreme to the other and over compensate. I had flowmaster 40s with dougs longtubes on a simmilar build in a Dart and HATED them.

they were migrane inducing and nothing short of obnoxious so my goal is to cut the difference and find a sweet spot in the middle. Louder than factory performance exhaust but quieter than Flowmaster 40s....

Show me what you got!

Dynomax Ultra Flows seem to be recommended a lot for great flow and moderate sound. I run Borla XS mufflers and they are moderate as well, a bit louder than Dynomax Turbo mufflers they replaced. Drone will be your next battle with any muffler, so read up on adding a J-pipe to combat resonance that typically happens in the 2k rpm range.

Flowmaster chambered mufflers, no matter what series are trash.

Vixen has a slant 6, but here she is sportin her Dynomax Ultra Flow welded muffler.

I had Flowmasters 40 series too, and the were too loud and had a lot of drone. However, I switched to Flowmaster Delta Flow series, and the 360 sounds really, really good. Not too loud.

interesting, i was just eyeballing the Flowmaster FlowFX

I ended up ordering a set of Flowmaster FlowFX. After much research and digging i found a useful chart that shows a list in order of quietest to loudest offerings and chose one in the middle area.

Will post video when i get them installed.

I wouldn't be opposed to trying the flow fx if they( and other manufacturers ) would make cases longer than 14".

So i ended up going with the Flowmaster FlowFX mufflers, and i am quite happy with them. Car sounds great on the outside with a nice deep tone andreasonably quiet on the inside while still being loud enough to overpower the sound of the electric fan and belt drive pulleys. I'm calling that a win.

If FM40s are your jam, look into Pypes Street Pro mufflers. They still have that deep chambered muffler sound without the drone, but have much better construction. They even comes with a lifetime warranty if I recall

Nah....... Just having fun. I got no problem with them.
I actually like the sound, and drone if that's what you want to call it. I like it loud. You want quiet, drive a Camry.

Having said that, flow and performance is more important
to me now. If I ever get around to building another car, Magnaflows would be my choice. Their mufflers with straight through design is right at the top on all flow and performance charts.

these Flowmaster FlowFX kinda look like a magnaflow ripoff. same straight through type design.

I notice all who took video of your cars run full exhaust to the rear. Is this a requirement of your jurisdiction or is there some advantage to full exhaust? I have always run short mufflers with dumps under rear seats near front spring perches.

These are Gibson MWA's... 3" exhaust behind an extremely mild 318... just for another option...
