I messed up putting my MSD Distributor in. Can't believe I did this but it's done. I placed the Distributor in place and thought it was down all the way, well it wasn't. I tightened the hold down and started the car. it started just fine and while warming it, it choked out and wouldn't start again. I noticed the hold down was now loose so the distributor dropped in while running. Whats the best way to get back to TDC and everything lined back up?

Well hopefully the drive key on the bottom of the distributor shaft is not damaged.

Remove the plugs so you can roll the engine by hand, put #1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke, both intake and exhaust valves will be closed, your index mark on the balancer should be at or close to 0 on the timing tab.

Install the distributor. Check to see that the rotor is aligned to fire to #1 on the cap. It should be close enough to start.

Will do, Thanks

easier to pull number 1 plug and have someone bump the key till the piston comes up on compression. It will blow your finger off the hole. Check damper to see if its close to the tdc mark lining up with pointer .if so drop distributor in and turn till rotor points to number 1 on cap. should crank.

Thanks guy's, got it figured out and running. now on to my next tech thread. FABO is well worth the $25 investment to keep this site going.
