Was wondering if anybody knew how to remove black paint off of a orange door panel without harming the stock vinyl?Just bought a Demon that has had it's orange interior(Panels, arm pads, arm pad bases)painted black to hide the orange.I followed this car for years because of the orange on orange combo, and when i finally get it it's been sprayed black.LOL

The dyes are laquer based so laquer thinner should take it off. We dont know for sure if a laquer based dye was used.
My similar experience.... 67 bucket seats have a steel back that is laminated with vynil. Previous owner sprayed with ??? who knows? I took them to a local paint store and they tryed thinners starting with weakest avail. Ragged all the paint off without hurting the vynil.

You're correct on the lacquer thinner, BUT it's a very tricky process......

You have to use a LITTLE at a time, being sure never to "saturate" the surface with thinner......and be careful about the amount of pressure applied......treat the vinyl like it was your own SKIN...........

Try a test area first is my recommendation..........Down on the bottom of a panel, like the rears perhaps, where it can't be seen.........Try a little with the thinner, and see how it goes.......... Be careful.

Thanks guys i'll give that a try.Besides the paint their in perfect condition.I was just worried that thinner might dull the plastic.I'll just try small areas first and carefully like you suggested.I'll let you know what happens.

go have some orange interior paint mixed up at the auto body supply.
