hi,

i got a notification today that my license will be revoked because i commited 3 speeding charges within 18 monthes. They say that i am eligible for a restricted use license. I will also not be able to have a commerical drivers licences during this time. I was wondering if there was anyone out there that might have had this happen to them before, or possibly got out of it or are in a position in which they might help me from losing it.

Thank you

About all you can do is talk to a lawyer. Sorry my friend, but you just may be SOL. NY state sucks like that. :wack:

defensive driving class may help, some.

Reduce Driver Record Points
Up to Four points will automatically be deducted from the total on your driver record if you have incurred violations during the 18-month period prior to completing DDC. The point reduction could help you avoid a license suspension! Points which are reduced remain on record but are not counted by the DMV in determining administrative actions against license. Point reduction will not cancel a mandatory suspension or revocation; nor will it cancel any action which is already being taken against a motorist's driving privileges.

That only helps with points, NYS takes your lisence if you get 3 or more speeding tickets within 18 months, no questions asked.

get a lawyer , see if he can reopen at least one of your convictions and try to get it overturned / reduced.... thats about all you can do ....be thankful you qualify for a restricted license, I didnt.....start saving every penny you can ,the state charges for every step .....and they are not shy....plus the lawyer will not be cheap... next time seek a reduction on every charge, use a lawyer if you need to, NYS sucks when it comes to this stuff. i have been there way to many times...good luck

If you got tagged by a radar gun have your lawyer get the latest maintenance and calibrations records for the guns. If they are not being calibrated like every 3-6 months you might be able to get that ticket thrown out. Another angle is the agencies training frequency on using the radar guns properly. its usually best to get that information at the time of the ticket, the guns should have a calibration tag on them stating when they where last calibrated. :book: How do i know these things you ask??? Well if I told ya I'd have to kill ya :glasses5:

Yes, the radar gun check is a good one.

Basicly, your going to be S.O.L. on this. At least the restricted license will get you to work and back without a proble, Things like church and grocerys are passable.
Just lay low and build a strip angine in the mean time.

Yes, take someones license after 3 speeding violations (in a year and half), because speeding is OH-SO-BAD. Child molesters are let back on the street, but if you speed too much we'll take your license.....what a great set of priorities.....

...and I can say that as I was born and raised in New York. There is a reason I now live in Texas....

thanks, i think i'm just gonna have to deal with a restricted license. I did have 2 of the tickets get reduced, however they were still speeding tickets. As i'm at the end of my senior year in college, i'm not gonna have the funds for a lawyer, and it doesn't seem like there is alot that they could do. So, i guess i'll just learn my lesson. Hopefully i can get my dart out to my new place so that i can start doing all the work on it this summer that i was going to over the winter. That will use some of my newly aquired free time. Thanks
