I have always had auto trans so im learning the manual stuff still. I see there is 130t/143t flywheel which im guessing translates into 10.5"/11" ?
My question is what dictates which size to get? The engine is a 340 6 pack that is going in my Cuda. I have an original aluminum bellhousing and a lakewood blow-proof steel bell to choose from. I would rather go with the larger clutch if there is nothing preventing it.

You can't get a 340 bell housing that I know of so you have to use the 130 tooth FW. Back in the "day" it was a giant PITA because you needed an 11 inch Long pressure plate and it didn't fit on the 130T FW. That's where the Borg & Beck/Long PP came in and it used basically an 11 inch disc on that 130T FW. I have the BB/L PP in my car and it was made adjustable, but it's not as adjustable as I'd like.

Now, you can buy a 10.5 inch Long PP that is adjustable and fits the 130T FW. Much easier.

the stock housing or Lakewood are for the 130 tooth wheel. mcloed makes a B&B/long clutch that will take a 10.95 disc.
or use the 10 1/2 : long clutch

For street or for strip?
The Long is a 3-finger clutch that used to be popular in Fords.
The B&B (Borg and Beck),also a 3-finger, was popular in Mopars.
And GMs used to use diaphragms.
Nowadays they make anything to fit anything.
For street you can stick almost any 10.5 or 10.95scalloped clutch in there,Except as earlier noted, with the small flywheel, cuz the tires are gonna be the first thing to slip, lol.
If you have a choice, and a big cam with street gears, I'd recommend a heavy flywheel, as it will make day to day starts much less of a chore. If you're gonna spend a lotta time above 6000, or neutral drops at the track, then the scattershield is a good idea. But man it's a bit of a PITA to set up.

long clutch is a ford clutch. ratios of fingers is better over the B&B clutch. I've used both.
