My buddy has a '65 A100 pick-up with a 360 and automatic transmission. We swapped intake manifolds (from single-plane (Torker 340) to dual-plane (Performer)). He also added a 1/2" spacer between the intake and carburetor.
Anyway, while the truck was being worked on he thought he should change the trans pan gasket and filter. He did the gasket and filter remove & replace. He then filled the transmission with SYNTHETIC transmission fluid (couldn't find non-synthetic fluid). Now he says the vehicle slips in either reverse or drive. Is it a mistake to use synthetic fluid mixed with some of the older non-synthetic trans fluid? What should he do? Could the 1/2" spacer under the carburetor may have disturbed the "kick-down" linkage geometry?
Any ideas?
