I need help because of the previous post "found metal in oil pan"

here are my specs

68 318
318 heads port and polish with 3 angle vavle job
eddy preformer intake
comp cam Xtreme energy 262/270, lift .462/.470
carb=undecided either holley 600 or eddy 650

The fed, and speed pro pistons are nearly the same as they are in different packages, they are a replacement piston, as for the KB 167's they are a 0 deck type and are a good bit lighter than the other 2, and will hold up as well or better. The stock bore of the 318 is 3.91 so 3.94 is .030 over. Any of the pistons will work but I would go with the lightest which would be the KB's.

Boring out the engine will add cubic inchs. How and what you do with them is another storu. The pistons can add to performance. There just one part of many in a recipe. The pistons can help with compresion, not a boreing. Though an otherwise identical piston only larger for the new bore would add a very small amount of compresion.

Boreing the engine helps minorly on compression, the compression height is more important which is what the KB 167 does, as it makes 0 deck achieveable, instead of being .055-.080 below deck. And they will work with stock rods but not magnums.

if i 0 deck my motor will compression go up? because i already have 302 heads and im looking for 9.5.1 compression to run on the street with 87 or 89 octane

As I recall most 302s ar ein teh 62cc range. With the Felpro .043 Blue, that's about 9.6:1 with .043 quench. Perfect for mid and low grade unleaded.

You have to have the piston at "0" deck and then use the .043 gasket, so if you have to machine the block in order for this to happen then this is what you do. The piston has to be even with the deck surface to achieve the compression ratio required.

i once had a 340 with #1 piston sticking .022 out of hole, lol, that motor was hot, i had speed pro pistons 10.5 to 1 with normal vlv relief that came stock in piston

Yep 340's were .018 out of the deck from the factory, or thats what they advertised them at for there HP version 340.
