Got them all drilled and sleeved tonight. Started epoxying in the tubes on the second head and stuck the very first of two head bolt holes that I tube. Of course as luck would have it she was the oiling hole which requires the full bolt hole bushed. I put the other one in and the four pushrod ones since the epoxy was mixed and then quickly drilled out the stuck sleeve, cut another one, and the epoxy was still good so I got her pushed in. Sunday is usually my day after church and I started playing with that LS head last Sunday so I’ll probably rough one Edelbrock head. This is another set being upgraded to a 2.055 valve so my seat and guide machine is getting a workout. hopefully so can also finish two intakes and exhausts runners on the LS head. Everything will be here early week to make up a flow fixture to flow it. Hopefully I can get the expected 303-305 flow out of it. That seems like the target number on these with a 2.00 intake valve.

Probably somewhere around the middle of March I’ll have to pull the plug on anything coming in expecting to be finished by race season. I have my bodywork to start from our wreck, a powerglide to rebuild, I see some oil puddling by the front of my intake on my duster so if I pull that I may throw a better set of Edelbrock heads on my car so those need finished. I gotta pull the cover on my Dana and give that a good checkout and my brakes. My first big money race of 2023 pre entry opens next week so I gotta be Johnny on the spot and enter that. Race season is coming.

Nice as always…someone needs to sell bare heads with no push rod holes drilled…

Not worth it with the design of this head. I think I ended up in the low 330’s plugging the pushrod hole and moving it over. I’ve learned a few things since I’ve touched those heads and can now do way nicer valve jobs but even so it’s just chick feed left available.

I would think going from low 300s to 330s is pretty significant?

This is where I’m at with a 2.08 valve without moving the pushrod on the set I’m doing for my car which is way better than the set of open chamber heads I have on the car right now that have gone 5.98. I’ve found was to control the speed at the pushrod pinch with tubing only and using the available area. I just can’t offer this type of work to a customer at 800.00 so they are better off moving on to a better head.

Well I didn’t touch anything of mine today and got a late start because of church and several longer phone calls. So I set down the phone and ported for a non stop 60 minutes, took a break and hit it again. Then I stopped stopped to head up for the second football game at 6:30 and some wings. It’s surprising how much work you can accomplish without that damn phone in your hand. Not bad for a 3:15 start time.

Nice consistent low lift numbers, overall great.

Well I got the first one all ready for the valve job and mounted up head number two. Got a late start as a friend of mine invited me out for breakfast but I was still able to get all the intakes roughed in. A few appointments tomorrow so hopefully I can get engaged in this project later in the day tomorrow. Lots of blending and final shaping after both heads get their valve job.
