These were 1190.00 last time I looked. Not as good as the Black Friday sale but still not bad.

Is it the spring pressure that makes them hydraulic roller vs hydtaulic vs flat tappet?

I always wondered(and asked) what the difference is in bare heads from hyd to flat tappet.
Are heads are just the aluminum castings. Most often, they will need valves, springs, locks and retainers. A valve job is often done on the head but may need to be adjusted but certainly checked for your valves and needs. The head will have valve guides installed.

The step below is a ”Raw Head” that needs everything done. In addition to the above. Valve guides and valve job and often the ports are a raw out of the mold rough and jaggered that need to be ported. They can not be used as is OOTB for n a raw state.

The “level” of cylinder head, IE; HFT/HR or FT/RFT is dictated by the spring pressures of the installed springs and spring heights as often sold and almost always roller springs are taller on there installed heights. Also check for valve length.

Often the heads will use a standard length valve in the aftermarket for whatever spring they use, so n which they will use shims to adjust the overall height of the spring to meet the level of cylinder head there selling it as.

More shims under a shorter spring height on the same valve length and softer spring that a HFT would use.
