Holley 390 6299-1 vs 0-8007K

Hey Guys,

Anyone have experience with the Holley 390 6299-1? There's one about locally on Craigslist and its a lot damn cheaper than getting the 0-8007 brand new...

From what I've been able to find it seems that it was an emissions era carb, I feel that may be exactly what I want as my engine is still pretty much stock and I've heard that the 0-8007 can be a little much for a stock engine

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has one of these on their slant and if that have any advice to offer

Do it once, and either get the 8007 or an Ede 500.
Why put smog anything on a car, if you dont have to ?
Wait for a deal on either, as they pop up from time to time.

Add a header, electronic ignition, proper jetting, and your 225 will do just fine.

the 6299 is not exactly a smog carb, that is slang, it is a 390 4 barrel with manual choke. any carb may need to be adjusted/tuned for your combo, the 8007 is not made exactly for your engine either. I prefer Carter/Edelbrock, you could look for a 400
