I'm thinking about purchasing an Holley 870 street avenger carb for my 340 dart. It is a vac secondary carb with electric choke. I realize some will say it is to big but the factory had 800cfm thermoquads. I was wondering if anyone has used this carb before? The motor is fairly strong with a true 10.75 to 1, comp cam 240/246 .507/.510. eddy air gap, hooker super comps, 3400 stall dynamic 9.5 converter, 4.10 sure grip with m/t drag radials.

I've got one exactly that size on my 408 sb. It seems to sized perfect for that cubic inch. Might be a little big for a 340.

WAY too big for a 340. The 800cfm Thermoquad has primaries about 1/2 the size of the 870. That means what you normally drive around on, will have a very weak signal. I use them on 4" arm engines and they are an excellent carb. But they are wet flow tested and rated. The Thermoquad, rated at 800cfm dry, ends up really being about 750 when wet flowed the same way. If you are looking for a great balanced carb, the Street Avenger 670 would be my first choice.

I'm running a 700dp on it now. Works good but as always looking for improvement.
