Any of you have a little bit of experience with home audio (surround sound) systems?

I've been thinking about wiring my Half-Stack (guitar amp) into my Surround Sound system, to really rattle some windows. Is it as simple as connecting the Outputs on my half stack to the inputs on the surround sound? Or do I need additional equipment? I'd try it and see, but I'd rather know ahead of time (in case it could let the smoke out of something). I'm not too worried about the Surround Sound, it's an old Sony STR-AV570 unit that was free, but my Peavey Half Stack is another story, those aren't exactly cheap.

I currently have my Computers, TV, Record Player, Minidisc Recorder, Tuner, Cassette Deck, 8-Track Deck, and CD Changer wired into the Surround Sound with no problem. And for being a free (ancient) Sony Surround Sound Head Unit, it will rattle stuff off the walls, with the volume set almost as low as it will go (hence the reason I want to wire in the guitar amp :D )

I still need to add a Subwoofer to the surround sound setup, and wire in some speakers for some other rooms. (probably going to need an external amp to add additional rooms to the setup?) Currently I only have 10 speakers, in the living room only. But I can hear it anywhere in the house (and the garage), with the volume set to 1 :D I'm glad my closest neighbor lives a good distance away :D

You will have to keep it way down to keep it from blowing up the surround speakers.
Backflow of that wattage into your other devices could blow amps there also.

It won't hurt your guitar amp to do it unless the ohms rating is wrong, then it can blow the driver ciruit in your amp.

I have done a ton of this kind of experimentation, and currently have a 400 watt Yamaha theater surround system as a sound system for my computer in my office.

For my guitar I had a Peavey Stereo Chorus 400 amp with left and right channel output to separate 3 way Peavey speaker cabinets, each on 50 feet of cable with thier own roll around rack. (stereo amp and 100 feet of separation) and stereo effects pedals.
I sold that because it was just too much, so now I play through my computer and use Creative sound blaster audio output in the computer output to the Yamaha surround system.
I still have and use my Digitech effects pedal RP100A run through the computer also.
I also use headphones a lot of the time now instead of blasting everyone in the neighborhood. :D
