My garage got broken into 5 years ago at Christmas. After that I wanted but could not afford a security system for the garage, so I went red neck. I set up a baby monitor in the garage with a buzzer on the doors so I could hear what is going on in my shop. 5 years later and I am still using the same system and I must say that I am VERY happy with it. My daughter had the monitor, so it cost me nothing and it gives me peace of mind. So now it is your turn to let the rest of us know what you are using.

I have the Mossberg, Pam has the Winchester, and the nieghbor has the Shepard and the S&W 357'...

Ahhh.... My Dalmation, Hamilton, he used to smile like that,...and he was the very best guard dog we ever had...

I also have a dog, but all he does it jump and lick, so I am pretty sure that he would not scare off anyone!!

wouldn't be too hard to build an alarm yourself
all you need is a closed electrical circuit with in it several limit switches and a air raid alarm
wire it up so that the limit switches are help open by the closed entrances to the garage, the side door, the overhead door, the windows (be sure to wire the switches up parallel so only one of them need to close to close the circuit

now, if someone opens the door, or window or whatever the limitswitch will close, completing the circuit and engaging the air raid siren

the only thing that would require proper consideration is how to disarm it when you want to enter the garage yourself

i'm glad i'm not the only one that has those short legged long back little turds!!??? LOL

I love em!!

sherriff in this county states, if ya find a thief, ya got a rifle, a lime sink hole, a bucket on the tractor??? don't call me!

kinda a harsh way to look at it, but seems to reduce thievery, except cattle thieving, beef is so high!!! LOL true....

I needed to protect something temporarily one time, so I tied a section of 30lb test across the access way about a foot off the ground.
Tied one end to the fence and the other to 3lb coffee can with about 25-30 old nuts and bolts in it and set it on a cinder block back in the corner of the fenceline.

Scarred the hell out of us at 2:15 am when that can of nuts and bolts landed on the conrete. :)

Bet whoever did it got a nice adrenaline rush too.

We bought our place in April or may 2013. Got married June 15, 2013. FIRST night home from our honey moon we heard something out on the breezeway, wife looked out the window and a man was out there going through some boxes, he heard her tell me someone was out there and took off. I flipped on the breezeway lights but just caught a glimpse of him runnin across the drive. Since then we got Chester, shouldn't have a problem now!! The post office no longer delivers packages to the house do to being scared of him. He's a big attention baby with us but when someone comes around he gets pretty aggressive. Sure wouldn't wanna run from him!!

I had just turned 16 and my parents were in Ireland for the week. The cops came and knocked on my door at about 1 in the morning and said they got a call from the neighbor about someone going around our house trying to open windows and doors. If I would have seen someone peek in my window at noon when I was 16 I probably would have made a mess in my boxers.

We have had barns and garages broken into but now we have motion lights and a pretty thick steal door on the shop so unless the break out the explosives I'm resting easy.

2 pitbulls here , keep on top of whats going on around the house. Really wanting a cane corso with formal training for in the garage. I pretty much know when my neighbor walks out for a cig.

We are on a list with the local Sheriff's department. When we go out, I call and they know when they come down our street to patrol, to come up our driveway and check stuff out. And they do. They always leave a business card on the gate to let us know they came by.

Yep,sound's,like our local cops. I know a M80 in a trash can ,it's nasty stuff. I heard two considered " booms" last week, why????

I have all that minus the beef, Definately works around here just make sure you have a no trespassing sign posted or insurance will not cover the lawsuits from the trespassers family! LOL
