Hooker headers

-
I can't remember what # mine are but they are the 1-5/8" Hookers. They are a freakin nightmare to get on and off and you have to watch bumps, especially speed bumps cause they hang real low. They clear everything but just barely but that's the case with with all headers on an A-body except TTI's or Doug's. If I could afford a set of Doug's or TTI's I'd throw my Hookers away.

I was just down your way last sat. eve. at the Advance auto cruise.

+1 , just removed a set of hookers off my Dart , not sure the part # but they were LOW , hit all the time , dips in road , speed bumps , a bee on the road anything they hit it . They were pancaked , flow must have been next to zero .
Pain ib the *** to install as well , never again . Using hedman tight tubes now , makes better power no more hitting pipes and header install was 15 minutes , took longer to get pipes to mufflers , but they were done properly for maximum flow/clearance . There is a thread with pictures down the page

Thanks for the info, I missed that one had a wedding. Were you at Wildcountry Sunday, There was a nice 68 barracuda there. I had the yellow convertible challenger. I am realy thinking about going with manifols but HP s are like gold I found a set on ebay $380. I think the TTI headers or $ $600. What is a good source for TTI or Dougs

Here are dealers for TTI
http://ttiexhaust.com/AuthDistributors/Dealers.htm

The bare set starts at $605 and goes up from there for ceremic. I think I am going to be plopping down some green for these myself in the near future. It will hurt laying down the cash:crybaby:, but hopefully they will be worth it when I install them and more so when I run with them.:blob:

Your welcome. No I didn't make it down Sunday. I'm 45 miles n.e. of you so I only make 1 or 2 a month. Got my car apart right now installing a new engine. Hopefully I'll have it back together by next weekend for our yearly river road ride. I know what you mean about stock manifolds. I wish I had went that route or the tight tubes Jerry mentioned. $380 is actually pretty cheap for a set of HP manifolds. I've seen them go as high as $750. Since I can't afford TTI's or Doug's I haven't shopped for them in a while but summit sells Doug's. JEGS sells TTI's.

Is it worth the $ for the ceramic coated, thermal barriar etc.?

If it's done right it's a great addition, especially if you like your headers to look nice. I would think TTI's and Doug's are both done right, unlike some of the cheaper headers that burn it off nearly as fast as regular paint. It's my understanding that when their coated on the inside it's a really big advantage as it holds heat in making them more efficient and keeps corrosion down to a minimum.

Thanks for the info! Maube I will make that river road cruize, I love that drive.

We love it too. We usually hit the antique shops in Grafton, eat lunch at one of the many restaurants there, then to Pere Marquette park. It's generally great for taking pics this time of the year. Hopefully the long hot dry summer didn't hinder the colors this year.
