I have been following a wiring chart for the 72 Demon and have no power to the large yellow wire running up to the ignition switch. I ofcourse put the seats back in awhile ago and can't get under the dash enough to see where it runs. The yellow comes from the coloum to a connector the yellow from the other side up into the dash. What I can't tell from the chart is what feeds this wire the power? It should be live at all times I would think. I will check the horn relay as well.
Thanks
AL

I found the relay and noticed the cover is gone exposing the guts, they wrapped electrical around it. What are the chances this is toast LOL.
How do you check these?
AL

A large yellow wire is definately not horn related.
The wire comming to the horn button is hot only if the relay is good. The button grounds that wire closing the relay and the horns blow.
The large yellow wire is one of the ignition wires.

I am not sure how to check the relay but the cover is missing so I can see the contacts. Does the relay need to be grounded to the body? I called a parts store and they are looking at $55 of a new one, special order non returnable so I would like to make sure before hand.
What do you do to make the contacts open?
Thanks
AL

I can image 55 for the OEM relay but any normally open relay will work if wired correctly.Your original harness connecter wouldn't work. I could explain how a relay functions but it would be much easier for both of us for you to google it.

I have been looking at some diagrams and read that the relay should be grounded to the body, I am not sure if mine was seeing the outer case is missing.
Out of the 4 leads going to the relay one of them I assume would be a ground would the relay housing still need a ground?
