If i took a 93 magnum 318 rebuilt it, put a carb on it how much horsepower do you guys think it would be also i heard you have to mill the input shaft or do somthin crazy to bolt it to an A-833 4 speed you guys got any ideas cheap things to do to these motors for horsepower or any neat tricks still not sure what i want to put in my valiant i got a 383 but its not worth the hassle with the clutch if it was an automatic car it would be done already Thanks

A 318 magnum was rated at 230 HP. Putting a carb on it will not appreciably change the horsepower of the engine. Kind of hind site now but the best thing you could have down when you rebuilt the engine is to have used higher compression pistons and more cam. Anything you hang on the outside of the engine will only have small improvements.

The magnum engine used a different pilot bearing set up than the engines that came with A833's. The hole in the end of the crank shaft will not be drilled deep enough or large enough to accept the A833 input shaft and pilot bearing. The fix is to use the magnum roller pilot bearing and cut some off the end of the input shaft on the A833.

what kind of pistons and cam because i have not even got the engine yet just checkin my options i work in a junkyard so i have some options

If you work in a junk yard why not look for a 5.9? You will get more power easier than with the 5.2.

If you go with a 5.2 at least rebuild the engine with some high compression pistons from the likes of Keith Black or Speed Pro and have the engine block decked to get the pistons to zero deck. All the magnums have roller cams so take advantage of that and get one of the new Comp roller cams. NOTE: if you go beyond .525" lift the guides on the heads will need to be cut down for clearance.
