hose clamp shootout

That's pretty cool! Thanks for sharin the big hose clamp shootout! lol

Cool video. I was hoping he'd test the heat shrink type clamps like the Gates PowerGrip. I have a couple knocking around that I've been hesitant to use, would've been cool to see how they measure up to the mechanical type clamps.

I have some on my heater hoses and they haven't leaked not one single drop.

When I restored my Cuda I used the stock spring clamps but I put weather strip adhesive on both sealing surfaces before hand to prevent any leakage. Again, this was for a restoration. When we raced circle track we used two hose clamps per connection putting the clamping screws 180 degrees apart and facing one to the left and one to the right.

Nice vid, I wonder how these clamps would hold up, I venture to guess better than the spring type clamps. Have used these wire clamps on a lot of older equipment and vehicles' that I have worked on.

I use the ABA “Stanvik” clamps on my Cuda.

No leaks or any digging or cutting into the outer skin of the hose. Has smooth ID and rolled edges. It’s been 11 years with same hoses and clamps.

factory used the spring clamps, fast installation and adaptive tension. Perfect for <25 psi that they are being used for. I read a white paper on this subject and it said the gates screw type loses 70% f clamping force when hot, I didnt understand their method of testing but the clamps did not change during heat cycles. The Shrink fit are permanent, great for big trucks that need reliability. I like the wire ones too for simplicity, the FI rated ones clamp harder with less stress on mechanism.

I use all Breeze brand hose clamps. They are the same ones we use at work on Abrams tanks, those vibrate a bit more than my car and the clamps very rarely fail.

I'm a fan of the ABA myself. They aren't cheap and they're made in Sweden. Really liked the Breeze as well.
Heat shrink hose clamp, do tell!
