hot coil wire is missing

can i use the hook to hot side of ballast resistor to use as a hot supply to coil, in engine swap my got cut off, dissapeared, or just plain decided to walk away? thanks

The only 12v power source that can go directly to the coil is crank only. If you run the coil on a constant 12v source you will pop the coil quicker than crap.
