OK...OK... Before you guys start your cyber-assault on me, hear me out. Yes, I attended Hot Import Nights last night. It was held at Belmont Racetrack here on Long Island and a friend of mine (the poor misguided soul...) owns a Hot-Rodded Prelude. So I figured "what the `F..." and 4 of us went. I've seen it advertised on NOPI Tunervision and figured it would be a good representation of that aspect of the car hobby. Did I get an education....

First of all, after paying $30 for a ticket, THEN they make you go through a security check-point and empty your pockets and you get patted down for anything else you may be carrying. One of my friends had a pocket knife that was going to be taken away until a $5 bill hit the security guards hand. He carried his knife in with him. Interesting policy....

Second impression: Bring ear plugs. I love music. I LOVE loud music. I hate hearing EVERYONE playing a DIFFERENT loud song. Especially when they all suck. Being a musician I'm aware of all styles and interpretations. Most of cRAP lacks any semblance of standard musical structure and balance. I was listening to songs where the drum beat skipped and stuttered like crazy and made no sense, TOTALLY out of time. Dance to it? Maybe if your suffering from a neurological dis-order and you couldn't clap your hands in time to begin with. HORRIBLE sonic output (notice my refrain from calling it "music"?) from ridiculously LOUD audio systems. But there was a Yin to this Yang....

Women: Oh....My....GAWD! I thought we stumbled into a Sluts-R-Us convention. The last time is saw this much slut-wear in one place I was standing in a Victoria's Secret with my Wife. Check it out...

Now don't get me wrong.... I love seeing massive displays of horsepower and a greatly restored body, but not when it's all the horsepower is in your stereo and your girlfriend is wearing the body-work. I haven't seen this much silicone in one place since I was a bouncer at a strip club in my youth. But I'd rather complain about the music....:bootysha:

Oh yeah.... I saw a few Mopars there:

I had the news on this morning and saw no mention of any rioting or gun play so I guess the rest of the show went off without a hitch. I also have videos and drifting, motorcycle stunt riding, and, of course... more girls.

Woah!!! The women were worth the price of admission.

The guys at these shows put a load of money into their cars, so you have to respect that. It's usually the stock ones with the fart cans & neon lights, and huge wings that try to intimidate you. Most are a good source of amusement.

You can't beat vintage Mopar, that's where I rather put my money.

Was your friend's Prelude the blue one pictured with girl that's got the early stages of cottage cheese thighs?

I've got a Prelude too but I don't spend my money on it.... it's the daily driver while the Scamp gets the attention.

I went to one of thoe Hot Import Night shows a few years ago and walked away with the same comments you had.

I must admit: Having REASONS to dis-like something makes more sense than blind hatred. Now that I've attended one of their "Premier" events I can form an opinion too.

Can you imagine getting patted-down for weapons at Carlisle?

Look's like a good day to me FASTBACK340
and the babe's can pat me down all they would like.:love7: Some of them look like They work HARD to get thinks going.:bootysha: I know what you mean about some of this weird new music.
Thanks for sharing!! know it is time for the video you got for us.:clock:

They should have saved some of there money so they could buy a clue.

I agree with Adam.

I went to the Hot Imports Night show in Charolette with my friend cause number one he would get lost finding it and 2, you had to go through the bad part to get to the place and I dont want to be stuck paying the rent by myself. Suppose to be the biggest show this year they said. After I looked around I got the same impression as Fastback340. There was like 3 girls I actually talked to that wasnt totally dumb-founded aka stupid, or at least pretended not to be. There was probably 3 cars out of 300 that actually had something intelligent done to the drivetrain. The classic cars that were there were jacked up with 24 and 30 inch wheels on them. A Caddy with 28s had 10,000 dollars into the motor and that was only half of the wheels price. So I paid 30 dollars to drink that NOS **** just to keep me awake and moving through out the night, keeping up with my friend. What a waste of time, Classic car shows are always number one.

Can you believe that THIS was parked in the middle of all those tuner cars?

There were some nice bikes there too.
I look at it this way: I did it once, probably will never do it again. Move on...

Those shows are ALL about bling; bling cars, bling music, bling chicks. I went to one once, thank god it was free and it was the most garbage 10 minutes I spent in my life before I left. It is amazing to me how everything they touch they turn to crap. They take perfectly good daily driver mileage cars and make them junk. They take music and make it so load and mixed with other music it is garbage and they take women and make them look like and probably are garbage. Anyone for a Penicillin shot?

Patted down to go into a car show?!? That proves my theory. The incredible, vast majority of "tuners" are thugs! Eager to prove they are better, faster and have more money. Even if they have to start a fight or stab someone. The girls??? Attention demanding gold diggers. Thinking the world revolves around their body. Don't get me wrong, a nice body is good to look at and fun for a night or two. But when your look becomes your personality, you become a vapid waste of space with zero skill set. Hence, the gold digging. I've been to a number of car shows in my life, all makes, all models. Never before have I seen more future convicts (or past) than at the import shows. Also, I don't know about the rest of the country but most of the tuners here are check writers. They don't build their machines. They pay for it. No respect for that. The majority of muscle car/classic car owners, awesome and easy going people eager to help fellow enthusiasts. Real car people!

I went to an "Import" car show a month or two ago out here. It seems that the one I went to was a little better put together. Admission was free, but the baseball stadium charged $10 for parking. Security just checked any bags that came through, no pat downs. Music wasn't too loud and they had a drift show every hour (drift cars, trophy trucks, motorcycles, etc.). There were an abundance of cars, most of which I walked by, but there there was some newer muscle there. Lots of Mustangs, but quite a few Focus's and Darts. Not as many women though. But that may have been a good thing?
