Hot Rod Power Tour 2024

-
Not that far for me... I'll have to think about this.

I'm in it for the long haul, hoping to meet more FABO folks on the tour. My car isn't the prettiest thing on the road but it's solid, reliable and fun.

I guess Roadkill has broken the ice on that issue, and I could not be more in agreement. My last attempt for Power Tour was in 2004? and I was hampered when I had to fire a fellow gear head associate that was supposed to help me on a final one-month thrash to get the car roadable. I finished it myself and thought I would do the check out on the way to start the first stop on the tour. The new front discs, chattered so bad 30 miles out, I turned around and went home rather dejected. It's on my bucket list. My hotels are booked. Fingers crossed.

I went long haul in 2005, and I hope to go again before I croak. It was an amazing experience and I really enjoyed the whole trip.

My wife and I are for sure going to be there!!! Look for my sublime 66 Dart!!!

I'm signed up to do the long haul. My folks live between Bowling Green, KY and Lebanon, TN so I actually save by having 3 nights at their house.

So, not on the west coast this year.
Again.
For the how-manyeth straight year, 30?
I might try it some time, when they are within a thousand miles. Maybe 2040?
(Yeah, I'm a little bitter).

They just did a Power Tour West in December. You could probably do that. 80% of the country lives east of the 98th meridian so it's no shock it's usually in the east somewhere.

I let my 40 year Hot Rod subscription lapse, and not a member of Motor Trend.com.
If I had known, I might have gone

from what i've heard is its not on the west coast because they won't get the numbers out there. how true that is i don't know.. they did just have a west coast drag week and i saw very little about it posted anywhere. anyone know how the turnout was?

Bowling green is a long ways from the bottom 2/3rds of the Lone Star state.... Does the tour supply night guards around these places they stay at night time ???????
Or does one just throw a car cover on your ride and hope for the best???????? You would see a grown man cry if my Duster was taken...... and i would never get over it either..

You couldn't get a hotel with the travel agency anyway / with the main group or whatever at this point. I have some different ones somewhat away from there. You're basically on your own anyway. Take your own precations is what I would recommend.

probably better off further away

There's not really any more security than at any other hotel anywhere else in the country. Folks tend to look out for each other, but yeah, stuff does get stolen sometimes.

I've done multiple stops over a few days, but never the whole thing in car. I did do the whole thing as a vendor one year, and that was a GRIND. Don't think I would do that again.

My only concern when I went was the stops before and after the actual tour days. As mentioned above, when you stay in the same hotel as 50 or more fellow gearheads, people tend to look out for each other, and you get to know some of them at the stops or around the pool with some wobbly pops.

Best security, have the dullest, dirtiest jalopy in the parking lot with the windows left down, works 100% of the time, your results might vary.

Doesn't that somewhat degrade the whole experience?
I don't know, I have never been. I got all my hotels booked the first day announced, they seem close and affordable, good enough for me.

I think they started the Power Tour back in 1995,maybe 1994. I did 8 Long Hauls in a row. Four different cars.
Skipped a year or two and then my last was in 2007. Back then it was California to Ohio,Tennessee, Maybe Atlanta for the conclusion.Ten days back then. Really don't remember.Lots of fun for sure and met allot of great people.I was allot younger then...
A buddy of mine retired this year and always wanted to go.He is from Pa so maybe ?

On the trip home we stayed at a hotel/casino one night, excellent security there, cameras and patrols. We mentioned our concerns about the security at check-in, and we were assured that the staff would be informed to keep a close watch on our cars. I can only assume that they did as there was no indication that anyone had been near them overnight

I am planning on attending this year. I went last year and did not see too many A-bodies. Hope that changes. Here is Day one line up to tour flashback... (I'm driving the leaning tower of power). Don't think I am theft target LOL!!

My dart won’t make it but I’m trying to get the w200 done to go. Still an up hill battle but closing in.

I'm already registered, but not with the Duster. Going in my Plymouth Caravelle with my middle son. Looking forward to it.
