I have a 87 Ramcharger that I am putting a champion rad in. I am also replacing all the A/C system under the hood. The new condenser is a parallel flow. I will have to make some brackets am sure. What I wonder is should I put it right against the rad and seal it like my 2010 Challenger or should I leave a 2 inch gap like it is with the tube and fin condenser.
The clutch fan and shroud will be going back on.
I will post some pics when the parts arrive.
Thanks Mike

I don't think I would put it against the radiator, but 2" sounds like a lot.

The more cool air flow across your condenser, the more efficient it will work, especially with R134. R 12 is way more efficient, but outlawed years ago because it contributes to our ozone layer degradation. Check your head pressure with the AC on, and compare it with the TPR chart, which is available online. I usually put the condenser in front of the radiator, like the factory did, so it gets maximum heat transfer. I'm sorry if I got carried away. Paul.

I don't think it matters "how close" as long as the two don't physically "bump and grind" together

Very much gap IS going to cause at least some airflow leak, and as said you want all the flow you can get through both

I think mine has a 1" gap and it works fine. I also added an auxiliary fan since i have trans cooler > condenser > rad. Gets nice and cold even with r-134a. Parallel flow even better.
