Ok this is about the most lame post I have ever done... but how do you get the dash out of a 1973 Dart Swinger! I seem to have gotten all the bottom bolts and nuts that hold it in place out but there seems to be something holding it up top. What the heck is it?:x

Please help as soon as possible a "special" minded kid.

you need to remove the cover for the steering column. it is onder the dash. then you can remove the bolts that hold the steering column up. once they are removed the column will lower. if you have all the screws out then you will have to tilt it out enough to where you can reach behind it to remove the speedometer cable, and the amp meter wires. i think there is also the headlight switch wire as well, which unplugs. been a while but i think that about covers it. good luck!

If you look in through the windshield, you should see several screws right along the inner edge of the dash. These need to be removed, and it's SOOOOOOOO much easier with the windshield removed.

Well sorry to say but that doesnt cover it all. I already lowered the steering column and took the gauge panel out. You also have two bolts on each side near the bottom that holds it in place... I took those out as well. The problem is something is holding it up top. I can pull on the bottom and it goes up... something is still holding on to the top of the dash.

You was talking about the gague panel... I mean the WHOLE dash panel... any help?

Haha ok OldVart... you seem to post an answer as soon as I did. Thank you... I saw screws sticking out when I looked through the glove box and gague panel. I was thinking that is what was keeping me from removing the dash. Thank you!

You can cut the fasteners out to get the dash out without pulling the glass. To put it back in requires using shorted screws and new u-nuts. The u-nuts will go on the dash frame instead of the body and the screws will go up instead of down. I've done this a couple of times.

Well that would be great Jim Lusk... if my windshield wasnt already cracked and needed replaced haha. Thanks for the tip though... I am trying to get a 71 Swinger off of this mean ignorant junk yard man if he can pry his greddy fingers off of it. So if I pull the dash out of it which I probably will... and the windshield manages to stay in good condition I will try that... Thank you though!
