How do you remove the heat n defrost controls????

How do you remove the heat n' defrost controls once you take the bezel off from the dash on a '66 Barracuda NON a/c car? I need to replace a broken vent door cable attached to the heat - defrost control? I can't reach it with the glove box line removed. HELPPP!!!

Finally got it fixed!!!.... I ended up removing the pass. side defrost tube from the top and the glove box liner. But those dang clips that hold the cable are a PITA for guys with big hands. Also, after being attached for 44yrs the clip only partially came up, but enough where I could slide the old cable out and slide the good cable through. Hopefully I'll never have to go through that again.
