i have the chance to buy a 8 3/4 out of a B body what would have to be done to make it fit an A body?

Move perches. And either get tubes cut and flanges moved inward, or maybe get some custom offset wheels.

You move in the spring perches, and get wheels with an extra 1.5" of backspaceing or so. Really not a big deal if you're going to buy wheels anyway.

Depends on which B-Body 8 3/4 rear axle. There are three of them.
-62 - 70 59.2 inches overall width / 44.0 inch perches
-71 - 72 62.0 inches overall width / 47.3 inch perches
-71 - 72 Station Wagon 63.4 inches overall width / 47.3 inch perches

A-BODY 8 3/4
-65 - 72 A-Body 55.6 inches overall width / 43.0 inch perches.

The early B-Body rears will bolt right in without moving the perches.
The late B-Body housings are just way to long to bolt in.

The leaf springs will each EASILY flex out the required 1/2 inch to fit the 44.0 inch spring perches.

I have a 67 Charger 8 3/4 housing and axles that bolted right into my 74 Scamp. My stock 14x5.5 Ralley wheels with 235/60R14 tires even fit. They barely clear the fender lip though. I think I will have to trim them just to be safe. In the third pic you can see were the tires were rubbing on the inside of the wheel well with the factory 7 1/4 rear axle.

I have pics, but Having issues getting my puter to "find" my camera. DOH!!!

Here we go, I figured it out finally.
