I love the body lines of my 70 dart. I think of cars as sculptures. Im trying to do as many custom things on mine , its not finished, so its "a work in progress "

I'm a casual fan and student of "industrial design".

My answer was "absolutely".

Auto designed is art. Beauty of any art is in the eyes of the beholder. Some love 62 B bodies, many love 68 Chargers. Some love the art of the Duster maybe because thy don't have enough $$$$$ for that Charger!!

I spent many hours just looking at the lines of my 70 Dart, so I have to admit that I did find it appealing from the point of view that it was art. Same with the lines of a second gen Charger, and a lot if other cars. The designers were trying to get the public's attention by making the styling visually appealing. Not sure what the idea is with today's auto design, probably more about aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.

Why sure I do ! Yes.

Cars used to be designed by very creative humans and created to separate new models from prior production years and manufacturers. Some are true works of art on 4 wheels. Alas bring in CAD and computers and you end up with what we have available today.

Back in the 60s every fall, everyone eagerly awaited the new car models!!!! It was an event. Pretty much new art every fall! Cars had style, charm, some had piss and vinegar!

The 1993 Ram re-sparked the "design" of automobiles, but primarily for niche markets.

That tend continues and has expanded, slightly.

I think the back end and glass give the fastback barracuda a real 'booty' look, which I dont really dig. I bought the car on a whim and felt the only way to deal with it was to make sure it had big back tires to make it proportional. I havent got it rolled outside to take a good look at it, so Im hoping the countless hours and $$$ will produce a piece of art and not another one to sell.

I remember going to the dealerships every fall and seeing the new models, was something that I would look forward to. I haven't been to a dealership in years now.

New and severely restyled models now come out at any time and no longer are tied to an entire product line.

Yes, some but not all are works of art in metal. For some the artist should be banned from making any more. Newer cars and trucks not included.

The whole 1990's "bubble" era.....

Of course my car is art. Can anybody on this site disagree that the 69 Barracuda Fastback (specially in F8 green with a white callout stripe) isn't the BEST looking car ever made?
Huh???
