Hey guys, I have a chance to buy a worn down 66 chrysler 300, and its got a 440 attached to a 727. How much horsepower did these stock 66 440s put out?:read2:

Apparently the 440 first came out in 1966 and its glory days (stock-wise) were in 1970 with 390HP@4700rpm, afterwards horsepower kept on going down till it reached 195@3600 (again stock-wise). Keep in mind that this is probably the net power!?! and not the flywheel power which is more understandable, by me anyway...

:sad1:Sorry, I just had to correct myself... prior to 1972 it was the SAE gross horsepower, which could be anything really, measured on the flywheel but without any accessories, mufflers, or emissions control devices. Hence just go to a dyno and get a figure...
