How rare is Electric rear defrost? I picked up a 73 Dodge Dart Sport to part out. It has the fold down rear seat and something I've never seen before in one is the rear defrost with the grid in the back glass. The switch is mounted on the bottom of the dash below the headlight switch. How rare is this option and what is it worth?

I've seen the typical blower style rear defrost. I had a 74 Dart Sport with that. But have never seen this style with the electric grid in the glass. Here are some pics. Looking for any help with this.

It was required on the fold down rear seat cars since there was not room to mount the standard defroster on. It is rare to see one on a non- fold down seat car.
My 73 export dart sport 340 has one. It does not have a fold down seat.

My 73 export dart sport 340 has one. It does not have a fold down seat. If your parting that car I would be interested in the switch.

Any idea what its worth? I got a guy wanting it but I have no idea what to ask for it. I dont wanna over charge but at the same time i dont wanna under charge either.

100 seems too little. New glass is closer to 200 for most any car regardless of age. And this seems to be a collectors piece

That being said.... If the buyer is looking to restore a car for his/her own use, (not to flip) than 100 would be a good price.

Be careful unplugging that glass. Might want to put a little penetrating oil on the electrical connection before unplugging it.
Somebody probably like that 120 MPH speedo too.

The big trick is if it works. The grid can crack if left exposed to the weather for decades. A friend of mine has a Dart Sport w that rear defrost.

Well I'll be. Learn something new around here everyday. Knew what it was. Thought it was more common. 'Course the switch is long gone...…..

Sweet! I was driving my Duster the other day with a frosted up rear window and I was telling myself how cool it would’ve been if they’d made the “in glass” defrosters! Glad to see they exist! I’ll have to get one some day!

Ill sell you this one lol

Had a 73 Sport sunroof car with one back in MN around 79-80.
Probably common in cold climates .

There is a special wire harness that passes two heavy gauge wires through the firewall (red and black). The bulkhead connectors wont handle the amperage this pulls. Also there is a relay module of some sort under the dash for it. I found a NOS one for my car because the existing one was damaged. Im still looking for the correct switch if anyone has one.

I saw those wires and was unsure what they were for. If one of my sells for the whole system doesnt go thru I'd sell you the switch. Send me a PM so I can keep in mind who you are.
