how to install roll pin on e brake handle

got a new handle and cant get the roll pin to go all the way in.trying to do it with it the e brake assembly still in the car.you cant hit it in with a hammer and you cant use a c clamp.what are my options?73 duster

Try pulling the handle/shaft away from it's mount so you can use a small C clamp.

Take the mechanism to the work bench or build a temporary bench/support coming up from the cars floor pan.

yea thats the problem with using a hammer,nothing for support

i got it in,all but going through the shaft on the opposite side.tried a c clamp with no luck
