I pretty much have a idea of how to install them i just want to be sure. Its a 318 motor and a 727 tranny and does anyone know where i could get the bolts for the flex plate and torque converter thanks

As I recall, the flexplate bolts to the crankshaft only one way. It must be flipped the right way and rotated to the correct bolt hole. Similarly, the flexplate and torque converter align only at 1 bolt position. Pre-assemble them and mark with paint, otherwise, when you get under the car you will have to try up to 4 positions before you get the torque converter attached. When you bolt flexplate to the crank, you need some way to prevent the crank from rotating. Of course, use a torque wrench for all bolts and follow the manual.

as far as converter bolts...there are two different thread sizes...5/16 for stock style converters...and 7/16 for aftermarket/performance style converters....

if you are using the stock flexplate...should be 5/16 thread size...9/16 wrench size...the converter bolts have a narrow head as not to hit the back of the engine...

the crank to flexplate bolts are all the same 7/16 thread with 3/4 wrench size....

use a thread sealant on all those bolts...

Before using Locktite or equivalent be sure to clean threads of bolt and crank & converter bolt holes with brake cleaner, and blow dry with compressed air to remove any grease & oil.

These bolts are damn inconvenient to access after engine and transmission are married if they need to be retorqued because they worked loose. Do it right once and save a ton of extra work in a crappy environment miles away from the shop.
