How to paint my motor? Advice/Example pics?

I have been building a '70 Dart with my Dad and he asked me how I wanted to paint my motor... I said orange. He said OK, but do I want my intake aluminum colored to match my new aluminum heads n water pump, or do I want it all orange (Heads n everything), or some other combination?

I don't know how to picture the possibilities... What do you guys recommend?

The motor is a 383, which didn't come in a '70 Dart anyhow...
The heads are Stealth, so they appear stock...
I am gonna have the Mopar performance black valve covers n air cleaner....
We are going to paint the motor Chrysler Orange (not Hemi orange), But how much of it?

Do you guys have any pics of a similar setup so I can see what it looks like?
Recommendations?

There's Chrysler Street Hemi Orange, and there's Chrysler Race Hemi Orange. You want the first one, as it's the correct color for most '70s high-performance engines. You can get it in a spray can right from Mopar, the part no. is P4349216.

hemi orange from kragen, spray can.

Its the worst dam paint i ever used... Its like water colour...
but looks ok. Be aware this is on perfectly cleaned and blasted metal.
It WILL not cover any old paint....

I think I could piss on it and get better coverage...

clean the hell out of it.. spray it with an epoxy primer then a high solids urethane and its done. holds up awesome.

i say paint it all.. never liked the bare alumn look.. plus it gets crappy looking over time if you actually use it.

I did mine in POR15 Silver.....
Cleaned the motor real well then Painted Away I went.
I think it turned out real well and has held up for years.

This.. Most of my engines,get painted with a single stage urethane. Color holds up,& lasts longer than rattle can usually.

Wash down with laquer thinner, Por-15 base coat. Follow with body color urethane while por is still tacky-job done!

I agree, even the MP rattle can is super thin. I think I used the entire can on the motor, just kept letting the last mist coat flash and hit it again. Id do a white primer on the entire thing next time, then spray bolts and all. Maybe not the bypass hose...

Yes! I really like this one! We have this kit, so itll be quite similar in look if I spray the entire motor orange...
