right now i have an old shaft style cassette deck in my car. How do you guys have your cd players mounted? Do you just cut the rectangle hole and bend those tabs to secure it? What about a backstrap? thanks.
i just cut the rectangle hole where the shaft style was, just make sure you measure twice so you dont screw up your dash, i used a dremel with cutting disks and it worked really good. and then i bent the tabs in and its secure.
I'm sure you will have to cut..if so take your time as stated. If straps are required, there will be a place to attach. Mine was secured from the temp control unit. If I'm correct there will be a outer plate that comes off first from under the dash face. Good Luck,
This is in my 69 Valiant
Hey 69signetv8 -
Love the "old school" touch with the garter around your tach. Haven't seen that done in ages! Reminds me of the good ol' days cruising Whittier Blvd. back in the very early '70s in my '69 340 Swinger.
I know someone who had his installed in the glove compartment at the place he bought it , they just cut the liner then cut and riveted in a metal mounting plate deep enough for the glove box door to close , they then drilled a tiny little hole in the upper corner or the instrument panel for a tiny wire antenna for the remote the whole thing looks and works great ,plus he got to keep the stock AM radio ,it even still lights up with the rest of the dash lights
i have mine mounted in glove box, just used 2 l shaped brakets was verys easy deck has remote which is even better
and for my antenna i just laid a spare one i had in the lip on the back of our dashes i know its in car but i still get most stations pretty easily
