How to store a used carb?

I was wondering since I am swapping my 750AFB for an 800AVS, what is the best way to store the old carburetor while I am not using it?

I am thinking about draining it out, pulling the top off of it, cleaning it and going over it once before I put it in a bag and shelve it.

What do you guys think? How do you store a used carb?

that is fine..but the gaskets and such will dry out and need to be replaced went it is used in the future.
