Looks like HP Tuners now offers support for the JTEC PCMs. Now there is one more tuning option available when swapping Magnum engines with the factory fuel injection system from the Dodge trucks, Durangos, and Dakotas.

I am curious to see how it compares to the SCT Advantage software and the Syked ECU tuning.

$350? Are JTEC's worth tuning..ie. all the feature variables you need?

Yes, JTEC controllers are worth it in the right applications. Fully tuneable with SCT software and I think with Sykes ECU tuning as well, even for rowdy cams and moderate supercharged applications. In a serious application you'd need an aftermarket crank trigger wheel to get rid of the flex plate setup, but for most street applications that flex plate trigger wheel is fine too.

Interesting, very interesting. I spoke with someone at hp tuners a while back and was told jtec for magnum engines will never be supported. There has been some viper v10 tuning solutions for a while but that’s where it ended. If it’s true I am a very happy camper. Might have to make another phone call.

Yup they kept saying never and now all of the sudden it's on their website and forums.
Looks like it's much cheaper than SCT software too.

I'm running the factory JTEK ECM reflashed with a remote tune via an SCT Tuner. It took about 3 programing sessions to dial my 408 Magnum in. It does have a pretty decent cam in it too (246 @ .050 In & 252 @ .050 Ex on 108 LSA)

I had a local shop dyno test the car while measuring the A/F ratios, and it spun out 500 ft lbs of torque & 382 hp at the rear wheels with nearly ideal A/F ratios. It was nice to see the tune was so close.

I used a Hotwire Auto Hot Rod harness to hook it up, so it was very much plug & play taking only 4 wires to be up and running.

Some day in future, I was thinking of lowering my compression, upgrading my reciprocating assembly and adding a single turbo to the car. I'm thinking of using the smaller Holley computer to add more tuning features at that time.

That sounds like a great package. And I bet it’s fun to drive. If this hp tuners MPV12 tuning solution is the real deal you will have all the tuning options available through the stock ecu. I use HP tuners on my daily driver Silverado and there is nothing you can’t do. So what that means is stock jtec ecu, stock harness, (which is really only 4 or 5 wire hookup once you ditch the stuff you don’t need), stock sensors, and complete control of everything you could ever want to do tuning wise. I already emailed them for pricing and availability and I hope to have one soon.

Considering Hemifever won't respond to my email, this is very interesting

The factory dodge pcm for the magnum engines is called jtec. They also used it on vipers and jeeps.

That is who I was planning on using. Do you know how much he gets for tunes?

If you don't have the SCT handheld tuner you'll need one, which he can ship to you as part of a package that includes his custom tunes. Don't recall how much it was then now, but it was $500'ish for the package including tunes.

It was worth every penny in my case.
