Hurst Shifter Extension?

The four-speed Hurst shifter in my 71 Demon doesn't seem to have a comfortable reach for me. Is there an easy way to extend the shaft height by an inch or so?

My late brother-in-law used to have some type of rectangular box bolted to the shift mount on the tranny (A-833) which raised the mounting location of the shifter by maybe 3-4 inches. I'm guessing it came from Hurst or Mr Gasket. This is going back some 20 yrs ago. He had an E-body Pistol Grip in his 70 Dart.

Page 38 in the catalog. Look there and see if one of the handles would work better for you.

Just weld the bottom of an old raggity shifter to it.
It will be hidden by the boot anyway.:tongue3:

Or make a bracket to move it any way you want. This is the one for the pistol grip in my Dakota. Made one for in my Duster as well until I got the right shift handle.

Here is a picture of mine. Raised the shifter about 4"
