Ok I'm finally starting my 67' Dart GT rebuild from the ground up, starting with a sandblasted shell, I vaguely remember a thread about a hood mod using hydraulic rams ? So I'm looking for info ...thanks

I think that was a trunk lift mod, but one thing to remember is that unless you lighten the hood springs you risk creasing the hood with the rams.

Here's one of the posts for the trunk.

I removed the hood torsion rods on my 65 Dart wagon and installed rear tailgate hydraulic lifts from a Mitsubishi. Works like a champ! Details on the last or next to last page of my resto thread.

I was going to say.. replacing torsion springs has been done and seen here, but replacing the coil springs with lift struts? I haven't seen.
I added a prop rod from a part yard donor to my 96 Camry rather than buy struts again. Don't even want to think about having these modern problems in my 67 fish. Her 50 year old springs-N-things work great.

I've been researching the hydraulic mod for my trunk since I altered the tubs. Lots of info through the search engine. Probably gonna do something similar for the fiberglass hood too.

I used struts from a mid-late 90's taurus hood for the hood on my 66. Worked like a charm and plenty strong enough.
