I have been working on setting up my valve train getting ready to degree the cam in. I checked and I am .040-.044 lifter preload on the flat tappet hydraulic. Running standard non adjustable magnum rockers. Should I be wanting more preload I am thinking .040 should be ok. I am using a melling MP603 7.642" push rod for my initial test fit. Before I order the rest of the set I thought I would get some input. I am inclined to run these as they are an off the shelf part and readily available.

I would say .040-.044 is good. Were you running the roller lifters, they generally need more.
