I have just istalled a Clifford Hyper-Pak intake on 63 Dart and only have about an inch of clearance between carb and hood, has anyone ever seen a factory air cleaner or any suggestions on an air cleaner that will fit with that kind of clearance?

170 or 225? I assume 225. It's higher and will be closer to the hood. Here is a picture of what the factory sold in the kit. Still looking for part numbers but the air cleaner assembly was 2129992. Not sure if it was engineered for the 225 or 170 but it is the kit part number. The pictured air cleaner is for the 300 long rams and not sure about the base drop but this is what the kit picture shows. On the dyno photos there is a max wedge style air cleaner with a cut on what would have been the battery side. But that is not what the classic kit layout photo shows!

Wow, no way would that fit under my hood, I checked out your pics, cool. I am not too concerned about actually having an original unit, just want one that will fit under the hood, Do you have an air cleaner on the wagon?
Yes it is a 225

Not yet, but I am building a 170. One old trick the max wedge cars used was to trim the underhood bracing just where the carb is. That will get 1/2 inch extra. Also you might consider a brace or solid mount on the drivers side to keep the eninge from rocking up and hitting the hood.

somewhere ive seen where someone used an air intake box off a jeep cherokee or something and mounted it by the radiator then just ran the tube to the carb. also if you have a carb spacer or adapter , you could check parts stores to see if there is something thinner to lower the carb. another option maybe depending on the look you want would be to use a hood scoop and cut a hole in the hood.

OK 2 Darts, what have you got there?

When I went to NAPA to get a upper radiator hose I was told that there wasn't one available, so I go in the back room to look over the available hoses hanging on the wall, trying to find one that makes the right kind of bends to meet my needs. I asked the counter man to see if there was one listed for a later model Dart with \6 and he tells me that is just a 90. I had in my mind the bend that I needed and found one that looked right, and when I got home sure enough it fit just fine. Later that evening I decided to go look at 3 other \6 motors that I have in parts cars and they all have the neck on the block directly across from the neck in the radiator, but the block neck on my 63 dart is about one inch to the left of the neck on the radiator. I have clocked the studs in the motor mounts as far to the pass side of car as I can. Any thoughts on this?

225/6, Holley DP on a Hyperpak manifold, and NO2 in a 74 Dart drag car. The little filter fits w/o cutting the hood, but this car does have a working scoop. The outer ring seals off underhood hot air from the intake. Note: No wing nut on filter. It would have rubbed bottom of hood.
