Keep celebrating dude, it's 1 day of 365 doing 1 day at a time. I just celebrated 13 years nov 23rd.
I think this will be the last milestone I share until 10 years
I asked the kiddos this morning on the ride to school if they remember me having a beer (oldest would have been 8)
no recollection.
Keep up the good fight! We are all in your corner.

My ex-FIL struggled as well, but he never made it to 5 years, or at least not in a row.

The kids not being able to remember you drinking is just as big of an achievement as not drinking itself. I'll probably never get to meet you and shake your hand, but I am certainly proud of you. My Dad was one of those guys who could do or figure out ANYTHING.....other than how to quit drinking. He was a WW2 Vet, had what I now know was PTSD and had to drink himself to sleep every night that I can remember. He passed when I was 15, and I'm 67 now. I still grieve for the Dad I never really got to know Thankfully, your kids will know and remember their real time Dad instead of a drunk Dad. Congrats on 5 years...going on forever!
