I am having an extra red tape time re-registering my Duster. Since,
the original owner is deceased, the owners wife sold me the car, along
with all the necessary paperwork, transfer work and a copy that the
original owner is deceased. Now, the wonderful DMV wants to see
a original document of the death certificate. What kind of sh%^ is
that! Since then the lady's been put in a nursing home, and I have
been handed a whole constititution of paperwork that has to be notarized
and a bunch of other crap. I don't think in my entire life that I ever
walked out of a DMV without some kind of snafu resulting in me
returning to there facility. I tried to do it at a vehicle registration
place but they could'nt do it. I'm glad to pay the extra fees if
I never have to set foot in a dmv again. What next? 8)

The owners wife should not have sold you the car. She was responsible for going to the dmv and getting the title changed from her husbands name to hers, and she should have done that first.

And you probably should have known not to accept a title that was being signed by someone whos name was not on the title.

My mother just went through this kind of thing, After my father passed away she wanted to sell his 36Chevy project. She went to the dmv to get the title changed to her name,, she had to provide a death certificate and all that. and it still took the dmv 3 months to send her a new title. We had a buyer lined up, and sold the car after we got the title fixed.

Good luck getting it straighted out.

I got the title in the mail yesterday for the 70. It took a week
and a half. I never got a hold of the elderly lady she was placed in
a nursing home. All I had to do was fill out another form explain the
situation and the nice lady at the registration place said
she would make a few calls and push it through. This took all but
10 minutes, it was well worth the 15 dollar service charge rather
than sit in a lousy DMV for 3 hours and then still walk away
with nothing. 8)
