I ordered all my suspension parts at the start of the month. All the Moog stuff I got the same week I ordered it from Rockauto. Ordered my torsion bars from PST that same day and was told I would have them in 5 days. Heck ya!!! So I get to work on the car. Each time I see or hear the UPS or Fed Ex truck outside I run to the door.. They never stop.. Hmmm, Sadly, the 5 days past and its now the weekend. So I called them first thing Monday morning and find out they are now on back order and wouldnt ship for 2 weeks. Thats a month after I ordered them.

Its the only thing Im waiting on to finish the suspension. I dont mind waiting but I dont like being told I will have them in 5 days and then find out later that they are BO. Just tell me that up front...

So I go out to my car everyday and sit on the chair and stare at it.. tinkering with odds and ends.

Some things I did find to do in the meantime.

-Starter cable has melted on the headers, need to get a new cable and reroute it
-drivers door window trim, needs to be reattached, ordered adhesive tape to repair
-rebuilt the steering box
-I need more CD's in the garage
-it sucks being in a cast and needing that one tool out of the box, then crawling to the box, standing up and then hopping back to the car.

I hate the wait myself. Eagerly anticipating a tunnel ram

Nice, whats it going on?

Sounds like ya might need a hand with some, um.... beer?

That is the one thing I have not done yet... Actually when I work on my car I rarely drink beer. I found out years ago, that I dont get as much done when I start drinking. So I may crack a beer and milk it out... Sad I know!

We just ordered a new muffler for my youngest son's daily driver. Ordered it from Summit on Monday, it came today, took it to the exhaust shop, and it's slightly too big.

So ordered another one that is 2" narrower today and now we are waiting to see if it shows up by Sat AM so we can get it installed for him.... :banghead:

Already got the first one in the mail back to them... :evil3:

Done this several times ( waiting impatiently, while staring at the car waiting for parts.) Do what you can, just keep making progress on it.

Our new muffler is supposed to be delivered today....

Karl, Xmas rush shipping, sucks heiney. Ordered the mandrel bent 2.5' Jegs exhaust kit near Christmas, two years ago. The FedEx guy signed for it himself, tried to run back to the truck. The box was opened ( by bad delivery...), who the hell knows ,if parts were missing ? ( been here, with damaged body shop orders...) I started off after him, made him wait and check. All parts were there, took all of 2 minutes. I understand, just damn.

I was once waiting for a package to be delivered on a Saturday with a signature required. I waited all day for the guy to come knock on the door. I finally went to check my regular mail in the mailbox at 5 PM and it was in there. I called the post office and asked who signed for it, and they showed me that my neighbor had signed for it. I told them that he's been dead for over 6 years..... #-o

On December 9 I ordered a complete dual exhaust system for my '53 from Classic Exhaust in OH. UPS delivered it to my door on December 17. No complaints with that kind of service! :blob:

Well the muffler is here...

Now the exhaust shop is booked up and can't get us in till Monday.... :banghead:

Just an idea here, I had the same issue when I installed my headers. Fortunately I had enough forethought to cover it before it melted to the header.

If you have a hard time getting it away from the header, NAPA sells a high temp silicone tubing that will not melt or burn. I bought one foot of it and slid it over the cable down by the starter and even if it does rest on it, it won't melt.

And I know for a fact it won't melt, because I brought it home and fired up my hot wrench and tried to melt it, no go.

Well I originally had it routed a different way, for some reason I changed that and went thru the headers. Of course I thought it would be ok, but it obviously wasnt.

I will have to look for that tubing, I didnt know they sold anything like that there. I was thinking of picking up that high temp spendy stuff from summit but I'll look at this option now. Thanks for the lead on that.

Oh on the positive note, I think that is why when I went WOT with my car my radio shut off and came back on. I think that wire was arcing on the header causing my problem.. Glad it didnt cause any bigger ones. So I guess there is a positive note to not having my torsion bars yet. I found this issue.

Yeah, any NAPA should have it. It's a bit pricey, I think it was about 6 bucks for a foot of it. It's also a little larger than what you need, but I guarantee the wire won't melt again, lol.

When you ask for it, I believe they told me it was for repairing some kind of exhaust crossover pipe on something, I don't remember now what it was.

It's better to route it away from the exhaust vs putting heat protection on it. But if you have to, use the heat sleeve if no other way out. .
