Ok so I'm working on plumbing the Wilwood disc brakes on my 68 Barracuda. What I'm looking for is the 3/16" brake line nut that fits the rear reservoir on a aluminum MP master cylinder so I can make up the line that goes from the rear reservoir to my Hurst Line loc. I've searched on line but can't find out the size I need or where to get one. Thanks

Search for "tube nut" on ebay. They come in various sizes for 3/16" tubing. Ignore the newer metric "bubble flare" type and insure your MC is the older "double-flare".

try napa at least around here they have the best selection of fittings.Thats where I got mine for master cylinder, nothing fancy just a mopar replacement

I think this is the fitting you are looking for. I had to get one for my Wilwood MC. Actually I had to buy a package of four since that is the only way they would sell them. I think it was Autozone if I'm not mistaken. If you can't find one PM me your address and I can drop one in the mail for you.

Mopar master cylinder is what? 9/16" fine thread? and brake line is 3/16" tube inverted flare?

9/16" for the line that goes to the rear wheels, 1/2" for the line that goes to the front wheels. Yes, both are 3/16 lines. The Wilwood m/c I just bought came with the fittings. They are not exactly special. Any decent auto parts store will have them.

I found these specs on the Wilwood website. Look like it's 1/2 - 20 for the rear fitting.

That's one Wilwood m/c. They make quite a few different ones! In any event, they say to hook up the front brakes to the larger fluid chamber, and hook up the rear brakes to the smaller fluid chamber. This works on 99% of RWD cars where the pistons in the front calipers/cylinders are larger than those on the rear axle.

On a stock Mopar, the 9/16" nut is on the line that goes to the rear brakes, the 1/2" nut is on the line that goes to the front brakes. So you may need to swap fittings around.

Thanks guys, I've been to a few parts stores and even a hydraulic shop with no success. Closest I could come was to use an adapter fitting. But I got it done.

Thanks for the info. Original 1975 dual M/C had 9/16-20 threads for front fitting. Of coarse I had pre-made lines with 9/16-20 ready to go. Had an extra 9/16-20 fitting also. Replacement M/C had 9/16-18. NAPA fixed me up with 9/16-18 adapter to use with 3/16 fitting. Switched pre-bent line to 3/16 fitting. So that was okay, but the actual correct fitting looks better. Don't know when they switched thread sizes.

Took this photo info to Auto Zone. Of coarse the blister pack spot was empty. <$5 for 4. Should have first thing today.

That was the route I had to go. With a adapter and 3/16 line.

Another great source for hydraulic fittings is RibetAutoParts.com This is where our shop buys brake line fittings-they have an incredible amount of brake line,a/c, p/s and tranny fittings they are an FMSI source and in our own shop have run into situations where even NAPA cannot come up with the right fittings so we just buy them from these guys. I bought my own asssortment for the "off days" from work when the neighbors say "hey Bill, you work on brakes,right......???" Ribets phone # is 1-800-724-2266 BTW

I don,t know what.s up with the link but I just got their most recent catalog with our shops order. I will call them on lunch today,,,,,

I'd like to add that the fittings are good quality FMSI stuff .We've been using them for a long time . Perhaps they can be found by other suppliers I have seen S.U.R.&R. selling the same fittings Try www.fmsiinc.com they are on facebook and youtube
