I'm going to put the separate Plymouth letter on the trunk lid of a 1966 Valiant and need to make a template to drill the holes. Anyone have a factory setup they can take some measurements for me? I believe they came on the 100 and 200, but, not the Signet. Thanks.

Yep. I have an all original 66 100 model. Do you have a photo of what you want?

My lid doesn't have the holes for the letters I want to install. I just need to know where to drill the holes. The best way would be a sheet of paper taped to a bare lid and holes punched in the paper where the emblem holes are. Next best would be exact measurements from the body line down to the top of the emblems and measurements from the edge on one side to each emblem in turn to the other side.

OK. I will have to make some room to get the car rolled forward, I'll see if I can get to it later today.

Well aren't I a dope? I forgot about this. I'll roll the Valiant out tomorrow and get this for you.

Well crap. Went to pull the car out and the battery is dead. I guess you should expect that when you don't drive it for a while. I put the charger on it and I think the battery is OK just dead so I should be able to get at this tomorrow.

Great, thanks.

This took an embarrassing amount of time to get completed, but I got it tonight. I took a regular tape measure with a hook, and with the hook on the bottom of the trunk and pulling it straight (not bent to match the curve of the trunk) I get 3-3/8" to the lower edge of the letters. To get the lateral measurements I used the same tape measure at the top of the letters, starting from the left. All measurements are for the left-most part of the letters in inches. Here is what I got:

P = 7-1/2
L = 12-3/4
Y = 17-15/16
M = 23-3/8
O = 28-11/16
U = 34
T = 39-7/16
H = 44-7/8

In terms of width, the trunk lid tapers laterally from top to bottom. I measured 53-1/2 sideways at the top of the letters.

Hope this helps.

Great! Thanks very much!
