I thought I was screwed. I ordered two new M/T slicks online Sunday. The site said they were in stock and would ship Monday. Well one did, from Ohio only I didn't realize it was only one. The other didn't get shipped until Tuesday out of Sparks, Nevada. The one from Ohio would get here Thursday, no problem. The one from Nevada wouldn't get here until Tuesday the 19th. Big problem. Our last points race of the season in the Summit ET series is this Saturday. I'm in 4th place and have a shot at another track championship, although it's a long shot.

Anyway when I got the email Wednesday morning telling me that one tire won't be here until Tuesday I was livid. I was on the phone to Summit's customer service at 5 AM explaining how this is really going to screw me and if I'd have known it was going to come out of Nevada and a day later I would have done something else. Now it's even too late for me to get it somewhere else without being saddled with heavy 2nd day air shipping charges.

The first guy I talked to, Merit I think he said his name was, offered me absolutely no help at all except to insinuate that maybe it was my fault for not ordering them 2nd day in the first place if time was a constraint and that I could return anything I buy from Summit.. I politely told him he was a big help and hung up the phone while I weighed my options.

Realizing I'd have to pay heavy penalties in oversize and non box fee shipping charges returning them and then buying them somewhere else was not attractive to me, but not out of the question if I had to. I called back and got a guy named Gary whose extension is 6987. After explaining my situation to him he offered to ship another tire out of Sparks Nevada 2nd day air at no charge if I'll refuse the other tire that is coming in Tuesday. I told him that would be great and very much appreciated.

So now I'm here telling you guys that Summit Racing and Gary are #1 in customer service in my book. These guys deserve the accolades and the business. Gary went out of his way to see that I was taken care of and happy which is why they will always be my first call and I ask you that you all would consider that as well.

Good to hear that, unfortuneately for me they are in state so i get hit with sales tax. so i stick with jegs. no complaints as of yet.

I'll actually be moving to florida in a few months, see ya around :D

I have had good luck with summit as well, but it has also been my experience that who you talk to is important.

Hey Guitar, What size tires you got in the rear ? Do you have tubs? One of these days i'll get to the track, every time I want to go, I get stuck doing something else....

Goodysgotcuda, Welcome to FL, Palm Bay here

Dude, Lake Mary is just down the road a piece and right next to where I work. If I can do anything for you let me know.

Eric, this Saturday is the last points race so be there or be square. It'll be next year before I come back with my stealth bomber.

My current car is mini tubbed and uses 29.5/11.5's. The new Scamp will have 15/33's under it.

Goody just wanted the lower elevation so his car would go faster...and we all know you don't get much closer to sea level than Florida.:wav:

Im going to the track here tomorrow night. Air will be about 4,700ft and its lookng good for dipping into 13s. Cant wait to see what it'll do over in florida for a 318 :toothy7:

yeah I got a bad distributor from a electronic coversion kit. I got it a year ago and they are going give me a refund. Pretty sweet. An extra few bucks I wil gladly give back to them.

73Dart, I've been to Moroso but it hasn't been for probably nearly 10 years. I'm not big on doing that drive anymore, I hate 95.

As for your engine, depending on head flow I see no reason you can't make 600+ HP with that. As for the carb, yeah your 750 will work but to get maximum benefit I'd suggest a 950 or 1000.

I also want to say that thanks to Gary at Summit Racing, my new tires are now on the car and I'm loaded and ready to go tomorrow.

i think both jegs and summit are tops unfortunately some jerk always ends up working for them every once in a while. just curious though? summit now has a store in atlanta that is a lot closer to you did they not have the slicks there? any way good luck at the track!!!!!!!!!!

I'd have to agree, Summit is the best. And I've always got very fast service. When I ordered some tires for my Challenger, I placed the order on thursday just after noon, I got them the next day at 3:30PM.

Thanks guys. I ended up tied for 3rd. the 1st place guy runnered up so I would have had to have taken him out earlier for a shot at the championship as he was 2 rounds ahead of me.

Eric, it was nice meeting you. Did you leave early? (I didn't get home until 4am) I know I was preoccupied but it was nice meeting you. Hope to see you out there with your car next year.

66dartman, you got that right. I've had great customer support from them. Matter of fact, I have dealt with Gary and he arranged a return on a timing chain that was defective, very good guy. I also dealt with another guy who wasn't near as helpful. Overall a very good company though and where I do most of my shopping.
