Hey guys:

How good are you at identifying a cam by sound?:D

When I put the exhaust on my Dart a few months ago, I made a video of its first actual drive. I realized I had a pretty good exhaust clip in the bargain. So, I'll post my YT video and see if it's something recognizable.

This is a 318 "mystery" engine. It was in my brother's '73 Sport when he bought it and all that is known about it is that it's got X heads and '68 340 intake and exhaust manifolds. Evidently it was built to replace an actual 340 that blew, because although it's a mid-'70 block, it was painted the correct red for a '68 340, then painted blue before it went into the Sport. I don't know if they changed pistons or not btw.

Enjoy.

Not to sure on being able to id the cam by sound, i guarantee if you heard my car you couldn't tell what cam i had. Its like looking at a set of burnout marks and trying to guess the brand and model of tire that made them

Hydraulic, .478in .423 exh, 283 duration. You are welcome.

Just kidding, I have no idea. Sounds good though.

Kind of like, here is recording of my Car running. What color is it? It is a nice car tho. seems to run good.

Thank you for the compliments. My brother hated that engine because it was a dog...in his car. Seems to run pretty good in mine:D

There's not an unlimited variety of streetable small-block cams. It'll catch someone's ear.

Actually there are no correct answers because I ground that cam myself at the kitchen table. PM me if you want one like it, cheap.Lol.

How do you control the lobe profiles to be sure that they are the same from lobe to lobe on a kitchen table?

Lol. you've heard the term "dual pattern" cam, right. I'm guessing he's developed the "random pattern" cam. Sorry. Couldn't help myself on that one.

BTW Tyler, sounds good from here!
