Had a '70 Dodge 1/2 ton in the late 90's. Had a 318 in it, but I put a 340 in it. Took it from Illinois to Colorado, got 17 mpg doing 65 mph. Had a TQ. I put 2.76 gears in the 8 3/4 before I left. Drum brakes wouldn't stop to save a life, they heated up bad in Denver traffic.
 
That would really be a good truck to breathe new life into . There's a guy over on FTO putting a V10 into one of those .
